This CAAHEP accredited medical assisting program at Rasmussen College is designed to teach students administrative and clinical procedures. Graduates earning a diploma in Medical Assisting are prepared for entry level positions and will study patient care and communication, clinical assisting and pharmacology, and laboratory procedures.
Medical Assisting students will develop communication skills, learn to check vital signs, practice obtaining patient history, administer injections, learn how to properly draw blood, run certain lab tests, learn how to submit insurance claims, utilize billing and bookkeeping techniques, learn medical terminology and study anatomy and physiology.
Medical Transcriptionist - Diploma (offered at the MN, ND, WI campus locations)
In the Medical Transcription training program, students will learn to work with Physicians and other members of the health care team to transcribe their recorded dictations into medical reports, correspondence, and other administrative materials. Medical Transcription is an important skill to possess when working to support other Health Care professionals and Transcriptionists are respected and valued members of the team.
Medical Transcriptionist - Associate's Degree (offered at the Bismarck, Mankato, St. Cloud, Brooklyn Park, Eagan, Eden Prairie, Lake Elmo, Rockford campus locations and online)
The Medical Transcription Associate's Degree program will prepare students to work with Physicians and other members of the health care team and transcribe their recorded dictations into medical reports, correspondence, and other administrative materials. Medical Transcriptionists work with vital information that will go into a patient's permanent health file, such as discharge summaries, history and physical examination reports, operative reports, emergency room visits, consultation reports, autopsy reports, diagnostic imaging studies, progress notes, and referral letters.
